The number of recovered is based on figures released by MHLW, so there is a possibility of a delay of one day from the preliminary media report.

The three indicators, number of tests conducted, tests per million, and positive, are the values obtained after calculating the moving average of the last seven days based on the respective daily increases.

Notes
  • After the Report of March 4, the number of people who conducted the tests, including those who have a close contact with the patients, was referred to the prefectural governments and only confirmed number were published. The number of PCR tests conducted in Japan is the number of reports within the framework of the pseudopathy reporting system, and does not reflect the results of all tests conducted in each municipality (such as confirmation tests at the time of discharge are not included).
  • The PCR results of the cruise PD, published in terms of cumulative number of test conducted, were verified after March 5, so the March 5 data will have a negative correction.
  • From May 8, 2020, the data source was changed from the individual data obtained by the MHLW to the number of cases published by each municipality on its website.
  • Some of the negative or sudden surge in the number was caused by the MHLW's data correction based on reports from prefectures or one-time addition of data that were not counted. Reference: 5/13 5/14 5/15 5/16 6/18 6/19

    Progression of symptoms

    Archived
After March 28, details of asymptomatic patients will no longer be published due to changes in the method of aggregation by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, so it is not possible to know how many asymptomatic patients are in hospital. This graph is available only after the assumption that all asymptomatic patients do not need to be hospitalized has been made for the sake of drawing convenience. The figure is therefore for reference only.
After April 22, due to changes in the method of aggregation by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the number of hospital discharges and death reported includes the number of patients undergoing reconciliation, and there is a discrepancy between the pooled values and the total number of PCR-positive. This figure is still drawn using the data that have been verified. The figure is therefore for reference only.

The project is a website for real-time visualization of the COVID-19 epidemic in Japan, developed mainly using the R language with shiny and other open-source packages. It mainly shows various indicators including, but not limited to, PCR test, positive confirmed, hospital discharge and death, as well as trends in each prefecture in Japan, and there are also a variety of charts such as cluster network, new confirmed case in log scale for users' reference.

    About the data

The data used on this site are all public data sets, mainly divided into the following three categories:

    1. Real-time data are collected based on the news media: the number of confirmed diagnoses and deaths are from News Digest and the values are consistent with the above-mentioned website.
    2. Aggregated data announced by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, such as number of PCR tests conducted, hospital discharges, calls to the novel coronavirus call center, etc.
    3. Company (SIGNATE COVID-19 Dataset), dataset collected by other volunteers (@kenmo_economics)and data from open source projects derived from the Tokyo COVID-19 Information (those dataset are updated by the official or the maintainers based on information from the municipality), etc.

Due to the complexity of the data, differences in aggregation time periods or standard issues, there are more or less minor differences in values. Statistical standards vary from media to media, so it is normal for values to vary from site to site. Therefore, all charts and values on this site are for reference only. Please be aware that this website and its management team are not responsible for any problems arising from the secondary use of the contents and materials published on this website.
